This year there are three swans on the lake. One got stuck on the ice so was rescued and taken to a swan sanctuary to recover. It was then released. Three cygnets were born which looked beautiful on the lake but great care must be taken as the swans naturally protect their young and may attack dogs or children if they get too close. “Indeed the senior male swan got zealous in his protection duties and killed off many of the chicks of the Canada geese as well as one of his own male progeny, so all the swans have been removed. One signet was attacked by a huskie type dog and was injured but when taken into care it and looked after it has recovered. When the male is rehabilitated we hope they will all be returned to enhance the lake.
